BB Coke want silverware to cap historic run

Kemar Ricketts, coach of B.B. Coke High School football team, says his side remains relentless in its pursuit to win the school's first silverware, despite breaking many barriers already this season.

The school, from Junction, St Elizabeth, will take on Garvey Maceo High School in the final of the Ben Francis Cup at the Montego Bay Sports Complex tomorrow after getting past the first round in the daCosta Cup for the first time.

"From the get-go, we would have identified the Ben Francis Cup as one of the more likely trophies to go after. Yes, we know winning the daCosta Cup is the ultimate, butwe had different objectives. This was one of them, and we have certainly met it being in this final," Ricketts said.

"We know that there is another 90 minutes to play before we can lift that trophy. We have sat and analysed our opponents coming up on Saturday, and we will approach it accordingly."

PRINCIPAL'S REACTION

Evadny Ledgister, principal of B.B. Coke, who has admitted that she didn't expect the team to do so well at the start of the season, had words of motivation for her players, whose names will go down in the school's history.

"Just getting past the second round was historic, and that's where the celebrations started. The coach will say otherwise, but for me, personally, I didn't think that we would have reached this far given the opponents they would have along the way. However, each time the boys rose to the occasion, and it's a great feeling for us and the community," Ledgister said.

"What I will say to my boys is 'Do what you've been doing this season , which is winning the match first in your minds.There is nothing to fear; there is no mountain too tall. And whatever you hear or is happening, just put it behind you because winning should be at the forefront'," she said.
