The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that national striker Darren Mattocks is facing two felony charges in Pennsylvania. The 29-year-old FC Cincinnati player is facing one count each of making a false, fraudulent or incomplete insurance claim and theft by deception in Carroll Township, Washington County in Pennsylvania.

The case has been moved from the district court to the Court of Common Pleas of Washington County.

FC Cincinnati has not commented on the matter, saying it is not the franchise’s policy on commenting on its players’ personal affairs. His lawyer, David J. Shrager, has also not commented on the issue.

It is reported that Mattocks first scheduled court appearance was set for December 5 last year, and he last appeared in court on January 29. Mattocks had missed Cincinatti’s friendly match against Phoenix Rising, which also took place on January 29, citing absence because of a personal matter.

His next court date is on February 27, for a formal assignment, while Cincinnati kick off their 2020 Major League Soccer campaign against New York Red Bulls at Red Bulls Arena in New Jersey on March 1.
