KSAFA looking to finish Major and Super leagues

General secretary of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), Dwayne Dillon, is hoping that the association will be able to finish its two main competitions, the Major and Super leagues, this season.

The Corporate Area football administration, like their colleagues in other jurisdictions, were forced to halt their football competitions after Jamaica registered its first case of the coronavirus in early March.

Dillon said that the association, if and when it is allowed to, will increase the pace at which the games are played so as to be able to finish the competitions they have started, as the Major and Super leagues affect the promotions of team to the Red Stripe Premier League and the Super League.

"The objective is to finish the competitions that we have started. These are vital competitions which have huge implications on our football," Dillon explained.

MAY ADD EXTRA GAMES

"I think we have like a quarter of the season left so I reckon if we get six weeks, two weeks for training before the restart and four weeks of competitions, then we could finish it off. We are thinking of adding an extra game per week so that should make it go a little faster."

Meanwhile, Dillon said that the association will likely cancel its Under-17 competition in order to focus on the Major and Super leagues.

"We will have to cancel the Under-17 competition because it normally goes on in April. But, we are looking to see if we can have the Under-13 and Under-15 competitions in a tournament style in July because the kids are home now and they will want to do something if the virus has passed and we are able to go outside again," Dillon said.
