National senior women's captain Konya Plummer could be closing in on a move to Europe.

According to senior women's coach Hubert Busby Jr, plans are in the works to send the 22-year-old centre-back on a short term loan in hopes of playing club football this year. Plummer who plays for the Orlando Pride in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) did not participate in the ongoing NWSL Challenge Cup as her team withdrew from the competition because of multiple positive COVID-19 cases. The tournament signalled the start of the season which was delayed because of the pandemic. Busby says despite the setback, he is grateful that she is healthy and is focused on the potential opportunity ahead of her.

"Obviously she was disappointed but the most important thing is her health and she is healthy and looking forward to going on loan to Europe in the next few weeks and obviously coming back to the USA in the spring with the Orlando Pride for the start of next season," Busby told Star Sports. "She didn't test positive which is a blessing and now we are just kind of working with her and her agent."

Busby says that a deal is close to completion but she is awaiting receipt of her visa before the move is finalized.

"I think we are close. When I spoke to her agent the other day its close. It's just like everything else, it's getting the visas," he said. "And because embassies not fully functioning everywhere it's just a matter of time. So hopefully she can get that visa in Europe sorted out. Obviously I'm not at liberty to say which club until it's [announced] but I think it's a great opportunity and a good club for her to be able to do it."

Busby believes that an announcement of her destination could come within the next several days.

Plummer could be the third Reggae Girl to sign for a club in Europe joining Khadija Shaw (Bourdeaux) and Havana Solaun (Paris FC) who both play in France. The University of Central Florida alumnus and St Mary native was recently nominated for the 2020 NCAA Women of the Year Award.
