Former Reggae Boyz defender Wes Morgan has signed a new one-year contract with English Premier League (EPL) club Leicester City.

The deal runs until the end of the 2021 season.

The 36-year-old captained The Foxes to their first EPL title in the 2015-16 season.

Morgan has found first-team opportunities limited this season, after making just 15 appearances in all competitions.

However, he started the last two games for Leicester, which resulted in a 2-0 win over Sheffield United and a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspurs at the weekend.

He has committed himself to a 10th campaign with Leicester, who are battling to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League competition for next season.

They are fourth in the standings on 62 points, same as fifth-placed Manchester United, but Leicester have one game remaining while United have two.

Both clubs are set to meet in the final game of the season on Sunday at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.

Morgan signed with Leicester from Nottingham Forest for just PS1 million in January 2012 and has made over 300 appearances for the club.

The stoutly built Morgan made his debut for the Reggae Boyz in 2013 against Panama. He went on to make 30 caps for the national side without a goal for the country.

Morgan was a member of the Reggae Boyz 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup squad in the United States and Canada, helping them to a first final, which the Jamaicans lost 3-1 to Mexico in Philadelphia.
