National women's midfielder Havana Solaun has made an abrupt return to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) as she has signed a short-term contract with the North Carolina Courage until the end of the 2020 season.

The team made the announcement on their club website on September 30 confirming the acquisition. The 27-year-old Solaun recently signed a one-year deal with Apollon Ladies of Cyprus although she had not yet made her club debut.

Solaun's professional career started in the NWSL as she was drafted 15th overall by the Seattle Reign in 2015 and then was traded to the Washington Spirit in 2017. She would make 24 appearances for the Spirit, scoring five goals, before departing for Europe in 2018 for Norwegian club Klepp IL, despite the Spirit offering her a new deal.

Solaun made her debut for the defending NWSL champions Courage on Sunday, coming on as a second-half substitute. They were defeated 4-1 by the Houston Dash, winners of the NWSL Challenge Cup in July.

The Courage will face the Orlando Pride in their final match of the NWSL Fall Series on Saturday, October 17, which features Reggae Girlz captain Konya Plummer and midfielder Deneisha Blackwood.
