Despite losing a number of their key players ahead of the start of this year's National Premier League campaign, head coach of Waterhouse, Marcel Gayle, said he is very confident that his team will do well in all their competitions this season.

Waterhouse, who were the runners-up to Portmore United in the 2018-2019 season, have lost the services of their captain and central midfielder, Keithy Simpson, attacking midfielder Tramaine Stewart, and goalkeeper Diego Haughton to Dunbeholden.

However, the Drewsland-based club has acquired the services of Ryan Wellington and Rushane Sharpe, both from Portmore United, along with Fabian McCarthy from UWI.

"Waterhouse will remain Waterhouse because we are a very competitive team and every time we go out there, we always go out there to entertain and win football games, and this season will be no different even without these players," said Gayle.

"We have players in the squad who are hungry, and they are ready to step up to the plate for us," he said.

"These are very experienced players that we have brought in because they have won the Premier League before, and so they will carry their experience to our squad, and the whole community has welcomed them to the team," Gayle said.

He underscored that Simpson, Stewart, and Haughton have served the club in the past, and he wishes them all the best..

MAKING THE BEST OF IT

"Our journey continues because we have players in the camp who will replace them, and we have players who will step up this season," Gayle said.

"I am upbeat, and I am positive, but because of the coronavirus, things are not where we want them to be, but we are making the best of it," he said.

Waterhouse are scheduled to take in the Concacaf Club Championships from November 3-5, and Gayle noted that despite the setback in their preparations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team is upbeat and looking forward to the tournament.

"The team is in high spirits because the guys are ready, and they are hungry, and they want to compete, and they want to go out there and play and represent the community and themselves," he said.
