Apprentice jockey Tevin Foster is now awaiting surgery on his injured collarbone after he was involved in a four-horse collision at Caymanas Park on September 26.

Foster's horse, SMOKE HAZE, went down at the half-mile mark with Jerome Innis' NOMAS, Roger Hewitt''s PERSISTENT ONE, and Anthony Thomas' GORGEOUS GIFT.

Foster was then taken to the Spanish Town Hospital after the incident, where he spent two days before being released.

He told STAR Sports that surgery would cost approximately $600,000 and he is still waiting for an invoice from his insurance company before it can be done.

"I haven't gotten any date for the surgery yet because I am waiting on the insurance company because they are supposed to give me an invoice so that I can move ahead with this surgery," he said. "I am still feeling down, but the greatest thing is that I have life and I know that I will overcome this and continue with my riding career.

This is my passion

"Whenever I come back, I will come with a bang because racing is my future and this is my passion for this and this injury will not get me down."

Foster, who has been riding for more than three years, has won 55 races in his career so far. He suffered a similar injury last year which kept him out of the saddle for 10 months. He said that this injury would only keep him out of action for the remainder of the year.

"I think that this injury will keep me from riding for the rest of the year because it will take some time to heal properly and I am not going to rush anything," he said. "I don't want to come and it hurt up or even gets further worse."
