King hopes to emulate Sarwan
He has been one of the new hotshots in the West Indies set-up since his record-breaking performances in the Caribbean Premier League in 2019.
Brandon King is embarking on his fourth overseas tour with the West Indies and the 25-year-old is looking to emulate one of his favourite cricketers Ramnaresh Sarwan.
King has worn the number 53 on his West Indies shirt since his debut against Afghanistan a year ago, and the Jamaica batsman explained why he chose that number.
"I wear number 53 because growing up Ramnaresh Sarwan was my favourite cricketer and he wore 53 so I always decided that if I was given a chance to play for the West Indies I would definitely pick the number," said King.
A masterful record-breaking 132 not out against the Barbados Tridents in 2019 put the Kingston Cricket Club right-hander on the map and the former West Indies youth batsman says he is glad to have gotten the opportunity again to add to his eight international T20's.
"I am glad I am getting to do what I love. Cricket is what I love, I enjoy being around the guys from all the islands as we don't get to see each other that often especially now during COVID-19. It's been difficult but I enjoy doing what I do, It's the best job in the world to me," he added
