Having scored his second goal for the Reggae Boyz, striker Javon East said he is determined to score more goals for the country.

East's goal helped the Reggae Boyz secure a 2-1 win over hosts Saudi Arabia in their second match of their two-game international friendly series at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh on Tuesday.

East, who plays for San Carlos in Costa Rica, told STAR Sports that the goal will give him more confidence going forward in his career.

"It was a great feeling scoring for the country because this is only my second goal and it was the winning goal of the game," he said. "It is a motivation for me now to work even harder and to score a lot more goals for the country.

Goal is for the team

"That goal is for the team because everything that I do is for the team and I am very happy that I played my part to help the team to get the victory.

He said that he has been working hard to improve his skills in front of goal and he was very delighted with his accomplishments.

"Every goal that I score means everything to me, even the ones in training and scoring this goal is telling me that once I work hard, then the goals will come and I am committed to doing that for my club and country," he said. "You always have to step up to the plate and deliver, so it doesn't matter who is out there. You have to give it 100 per cent and that is what I did on Tuesday for the country."

East, who did not play when the Reggae Boyz lost the first game 3-0 last Saturday, said that he is hoping to carry over his scoring exploits to his club in Costa Rica.

"I have just scored one goal for my club in Costa Rica and this is due to injuries, so I plan to go back there and work even harder and to ensure that I score a lot of goals."
