Feanny plots for 2021
Many-time champion trainer Philip Feanny says his plan for the 2021 horse-racing season is to produce more winning thoroughbreds. Feanny, a 14-time champion trainer, dominated the trainer's championships in the late 1990s. However, he has since turned his focus to breeding in recent years, where he is the part owner and managing director of champion breeder Ham Stables.
Feanny says he had lost interest in racing over the years, but things have improved since Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment took over operation of Caymanas Park three years ago.
"I will be training a few horses next year, more than I am doing this year, because I like where Supreme Ventures is going and I am getting interested again," he said.
"I think when you lose interest in something it is hell of a thing to get it back but my interest is getting back there now."
But Feanny made it clear that he has no interest in challenging for the championships because that will be too much work for him to do.
"That (trainer's championships) is too stressful, so I leave that to them," he said. "I am good with breeding and training some more horses and that is enough.
"I will be training some young horses and some possible classic horses but not numbers because I am not interested in that. But I expect to be back in the top in the trainer's championships, but first it is the breeding that I am focusing on."
Feanny has saddled over 1,000 winners at Caymanas Park, noticeable among them are THE VICEROY, EROS, LIU CHIE POO, MILLIGRAM, and I'AM SATISFIED.
