Focused on making the most of his last run at the Olympics Games, former World 100m champion Yohan Blake said that joining the newly established TITANS Track club was about needing a change of scenery in order for him to improve as an athlete.

Blake joined the club late last year which is under the leadership of Olympian Michael Frater and also includes 2014 Commonwealth Games champion Kemar Bailey-Cole as well as former top junior sprinter Jazeel Murphy and 2014 Olympic relay gold medallist Jevaughn Minzie.

Blake said that while he is appreciative of his time at Racers Track Club, he felt that it was time for a different approach.

"At Racers was good as well. Hat's off to coach [Glen] Mills. Sometimes to get better you just feel like you want a change of atmosphere and that's what I did," Blake told STAR Sports. "I got a different feel of [the] atmosphere [here] and so far, it's great. Can't complain."

The 31-year-old left Racers in January 2019 after 10 years with the club which yielded a World 100m title in 2011 in Daegu, South Korea, as well as earning two silver medals in the 100m and 200m at the 2012 London Olympics and gold as a member of 4x100m relay team that set the world record.

Blake reportedly started training with Gregory Little last November and he said that he got the offer to join the club by chance at its inception

"Gregory Little and Frater they decided to name the club TITANS (Training Intelligently Towards Athletes Natural Speed) and started the club when I left Racers. That's how it came about, I was just there and it's [going] good so far."

Blake says that he is putting in the work to prepare for a season under a cloud of uncertainty as there are still many questions as to whether the Tokyo Games, which has been postponed already, will be staged.

However, he says that with events on the calendar to look forward to, he is focused on performing well this season despite any circumstances.

"What I realised is that I have to put all the uncertainty behind me, keep on training. Whatever comes, comes and just make sure that you are ready for whatever," Blake said. "I know the Diamond League is still going ahead. So, I am looking forward for anything that might come."
