Parris set to make permanent move to Europe
Cavalier FC Sporting Director Rudolph Speid says midfielder Kareem Parris is very close to securing a permanent move to Slovienan second division club NK Krka.
Speid told STAR Sports that Parris, who has been on loan at NK Krka for the past two seasons, have been creating waves in the campaign which has seen him scoring 12 goals, while also dishing out 12 assists in the competition. Speid said that there have been ongoing negotiations between Cavalier and NK Krka over the permanent transfer for Parris, but the COVID 19 pandemic has brought a halt to these discussions.
"He is still on loan, and so we are hoping that this will turn permanent," said Speid. "I think, from all indications, pretty soon he will get that break in terms of him signing a permanent contract with the club. He is known in Europe, and so I just hope that he will continue to improve, and I am confident that he will secure a permanent contract very soon."
Speid underscored that the Parris first season in the league wasn't his best and therefore the club wanted to send him back to Jamaica, but they had worked assiduously to ensure that he remains in Europe.
"There was a recommendation for him to return to Jamaica and we said no, and so we had to negotiate with them for him to stay, and so everything has turned out well for us," said Speid.
"He is now the leading goalscorer in the league with two hat-tricks so far, and score some really delightful goals from midfield, and I think that is what earned him a call for the national team for the games against Saudi Arabia," he said.
He added that Parris, who is a former Clarendon College daCosta Cup standout, has been improving his all-round game significantly over the past couple of years and therefore, he is confident that he will continue to get better during the season.
"I think he understands the game now because he has been showing a lot of improvements, and so he is now a more complete package because he has been working hard to improve his game on all fronts," Spied said.
