Ahead of a potential return to the senior national team, striker Romario Williams strengthened his case as he netted the game-winner for his Egyptian side Al Ittihad Alexandria as they defeated Bank El Ahly 1-0 in their Egyptian Premier League game yesterday at the Arabs Contractors Stadium in Cairo.

The 26-year-old Williams, who came on as a second-half substitute, netted in the 76th minute, latching on to a free kick from close range to extend their unbeaten run in the league and to keep his club within eight points of leaders Zamalek who have games in hand. National and club teammate Damion Lowe started his 14th game for the club and helped them to maintain a clean sheet. Al Ittihad are now in fourth place with 25 points, after 16 games.

Williams has scored four goals in 14 appearances for Al Ittihad this season, having earned eight starts in that span. He is currently on a two-year deal.

March 25 friendly

While the Jamaica squad for the upcoming March 25 friendly against the United States (US) has not yet been announced, both Williams and Lowe have been invited to attend. The club released a statement on their social media page on March 8 stating that they were sent an official request by the Jamaica Football Federation for both players to join the squad for the game in Austria. Incidentally, the Bank El Ahly game is the last league fixture before the international break.

Williams last played for Jamaica in September 2018 coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 win against the Cayman Islands. He has scored twice in 13 appearances for the Reggae Boyz.
