Coorie Grant, the agent of Anthony Thomas, says his client is recovering well and will be back in the saddle at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.

Thomas, a two-time champion jockey, was aboard MY TIME NOW during a three-horse collision with former champion Shane Ellis and Tevin Foster in the sixth race on Tuesday.

He incurred a minor foot injury and was treated by the medical staff at Caymanas. Ellis, who was abroad DUKE OF SPRINGS, was visually shaken from the fall but he continued riding for the remainder of the day.

However, Foster, who was abroad SHEBOOM, was not as lucky and was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Grant told STAR Sports that the injury is not as serious as first feared and that they have been taking all the precautions to make sure that he would be fully fit for Wednesday.

"It is nothing severe because he just received a knock below the ankle, so he should be okay in another day or two," Grant said.

"He has been icing it and he has been feeling a lot better and he will be riding on Wednesday. What we are doing now is to cool him off the track and to ensure that there is less wear and tear on [the ankle]."

CHAMPIONSHIP

Thomas, who was joint champion jockey for 2020 with Dane Nelson, is second in this year's championship with 21 wins. Nelson leads the standings with 25 wins.

"Anthony is a very tough jockey and he is very determined because I think that he has gotten the most falls among the top jockeys at the Caymanas Park," Grant said. "He is very brave, because to be a good rider you have to be brave, and this is just a part of the game and therefore he is looking forward to coming back on Wednesday."
