Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment General Manager Lorna Gooden says there will be an early start to the race day at Caymanas Park on Saturday, after the Government imposed more weekend lockdowns as it seeks to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The curfew will now run from 4 p.m. on Saturdays to 5 a.m. on Sundays and resumes at 2 p.m. on Sundays until 5 a.m. the next morning.

Gooden told STAR Sports that in light of these measures, the race meet on Saturdays will begin at 9:15 a.m. while the raceday for Sunday has now been moved to Monday.

"Based on the new curfew measures that the Government has announced, we had to pivot and shift to ensure that we have continuing racing, so on Saturday we will have what we call our first breakfast at racing," she said.

"It is an early start, post time is at 9:15 a.m. so we are encouraging our punters to come out and enjoy the day with us before you have to go back home at four o'clock, so this is just a new way of having your favourite sport.

Our regular post time

"We have shifted the Sunday race card to Monday, so we will be back to our regular post time on Monday, which is about 12 o'clock."

Gooden said that all the protocols and guidelines will be in place and failure to adhere will result in patrons being evicted from the property.

She said that the resanding of the track has now been completed and exercise workouts are scheduled to begin today.

"We are excited about the work that has been done because I think it is first-class work," Gooden said. "It is the first time it was done in a matter where we used our layers to put down the sand and an even field and we used a grader to ensure that everything is done at the same time.

"We are excited about this and I know that the horsemen will be out doing their exercise tomorrow (today), so we will just get back to the racing that we are loving."
