Although it took longer than anticipated for national defender Chantelle Swaby to make her debut for Scottish club Rangers, the 22-year-old says that she is adjusting so far to life in her new surroundings.

Swaby signed for the club in January but was forced to wait two months before making her debut on April 11 because of the suspension of matches in the Scottish Women's Premier League due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking recently with RangersTV, Swaby says that she has acclimatised to the style of play in the league and has been impressed with the level of intensity despite the two-month stoppage.

"The level and intensity has been great. Coming back in everybody was super energetic and really happy to be here. I was happy when I came in and saw the level of play so I think it is very fitting for me," Swaby said. Swaby made her club debut during their 5-0 win against Spartans and said that the game was a good "confidence builder".

Rangers have won four of their last five games in the league play, with the lone defeat coming against their rivals Celtic. However, Swaby says that they will not get complacent and are determined to keep the intensity for the rest of the season.

"I think that if we keep on the same grind and the same vibe we have been on it will definitely pay off. We just have to continue to work hard in training and just continue to build that level of play. We never want to settle," Swaby said. "No matter who we are playing we just want to keep that same intensity and bring it into the next game. We need to make sure we are on top of our recovery and take care of our bodies because the turnaround is very quick."

Rangers closed the gap on leaders Glasgow City on Sunday with an 11-0 victory over sixth-place Forfar Farmington. The win means that Rangers are currently in second place with 30 points, three points adrift of Glasgow who has 33 points, and won their game over the weekend against Hearts.

Rangers will hope to maintain their title challenge when they face Motherwell on Sunday.
