Kemar 'Taxi' Lawrenece's European adventure could soon be over as there are reports that the Reggae Boy could return to Major League Soccer soon.

According to the athletic reporters Josh Kloke, Paul Tenorio and Sam Stejskal, Toronto FC are set to acquire Lawrence, 28, from Belgian club Anderlecht where he has spent the last year. Lawerence signed with the club in January 2020 on a two-year deal, which is set to expire in June 2022, after five years with the New York Red Bulls. According to Kloke, the deal is set to be with in the "mid six-figure" range.

Lawrence missed the start of the current Belgian season due to family issues. He was given permission to return to Jamaica to tend to his brother, who suffered a serious injury in an accident last year. He has since then made 15 league appearances and scored his first goal for the club in Feburary in a 3-1 win over Standard Liege.

His last four matches

However, he has not made an appearance in his last four matches because of illness (March 21st vs Zulte Waregem) and because he was not included in the squad specifically for the last two games against defending champions Club Brugge and Sint-Truiden.

The reported move would mean that Lawrence would reunite with former Red Bull assistant coach Chris Armas, who is now the Toronto FC boss, and Ali Curtis, who acquired Lawrence in 2015 during his tenure as Red Bulls sporting director.

Lawrence has made a total of 146 appearances with the Red Bulls and won two Supporter Shield titles with the club during that span. He originally left the Red Bulls after failing to come to terms on a contract extension.

Lawrence would be among the recent signings for Toronto, who acquired Venezuelan international Yeferson Soltedo as a designated player last week.
