Keilando Goburn (St Jago High School): Happy to be in front, but I think we dropped at least 12 points, but that is the way of Championships. We dropped points in several areas but some of the girls were able to pick up in other areas, which kind of balanced out things. There were three standouts for us today in Shantae Foreman in the high jump, Jamora Alves in the Class Two shot put, and Camoy Binger in the 80m hurdles, whose performances were exceptional as she had to run twice to get the gold medal."

Michael Dyke (Edwin Allen High School): We had two mishaps in the hurdles today where two of the girls who were medal contenders were disqualified for false-starting, but the girls were able to pick up points in Class One through Patreece Clarke, who we did not expect to medal. This goes to show the spirit of the team that when we are down, someone elsewhere will step up to the plate.

"Overall, it was a good day and I am looking forward to today's day two as we hope to pick up some quality points."

Leaford Grant (Kingston College): We had a few casualties yesterday, but some of the guys stepped up big time in some areas and I am pleased with where we are at the moment.

"Our main rivals, who are contenders for the title, have also dropped points and we are looking forward for the remaining days to stay positive and stay on top of things."
