Peta-Gaye Dickenson, the widow of late former national footballer Tremaine Stewart, says her family still does not know the cause of death, after his autopsy returned inconclusive.

Stewart collapsed and died during a football match in his community of Gordon Pen on Sunday, April 18. The attacking midfielder was signed to Dunbeholden FC at the time of his death. He was 32 years old.

"They said that they are going to take a piece of his organ to the lab to see what they can find, but other than that, no vein or anything like that burst and we don't know," Dickenson, who had been married to Stewart for over two years, said.

"It is tough because I am not getting any result to say if it was a heart attack that killed him or something else but is just God bringing me through right now."

Dickenson said the funeral for Stewart will take place on June 11.

Stewart started his footballing career at Eltham High School where he led them to the ISSA Walker Cup title in 2006. He also led them to the semi-final of the Manning Cup competition that year, but they were beaten by Jamaica College.

The attacking midfielder played for August Town Football Club from 2006 to 2008, Portmore United from 2008 to 2012, and again in 2016. Stewart also played for Waterhouse from 2014 to 2015 as well as for Aalesunds in Norway from 2012 to 2014, and Rovaniemen Palloseura in Finland in 2015.

He made 12 appearances for the Reggae Boyz, scoring two goals.
