Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas is very confident that his mount MINIATURE MAN will win the 2000 Guineas over 1600 metres at Caymanas Park tomorrow.

MINIATURE MAN, who is drawn in gate 16, is the ante-post second favourite behind FURTHER AND BEYOND who will break from gate four with Dane Nelson aboard in the 16-horse field.

Both horses meet again after a dead-heat finish in the 1500 metres Kingston Cup. The result has sparked a lot of controversy and the matter has been referred by the Jamaica Racing Commission to the First Instance Tribunal following a meeting with the promoters Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited.

Cardenas who will be seeking his third Guineas success, said MINIATURE MAN has been working extremely well going into Saturday's massive race and therefore he expects to come out on top.

CONFIDENT

"I am 100 per cent confident that I am going to win this race because I have been working with my horse every morning. He has been working excellently and he is in really good condition right now and so I expect him to win this race," said Cardenas.

FURTHER AND BEYOND allowed MINIATURE MAN four kilogrammes in their last meeting on May 8. However, both horses will be sitting level at 57kg on Saturday but Cardenas said that the extra weight will not be an issue for his horse.

"I don't think the weight will matter to my horse because the saddle in the mornings is really big and he carries a lot of weight and so I expect him to run a good race," he said.

"The first time I worked him before the dead heat race, he wasn't that ready because he was a bit green and we fixed some little things that we needed to fix and he is doing better now," Cardenas said.

"He is a very good horse and this race is going to be very nice because every horse has a chance. BILLY WHIZZ also has a really good chance and there are a couple of other horses in the race that really have good chances," he said.
