Miniature Man ready for Jamaica St Leger

June 30, 2021

Trainer Jason DaCosta says MINIATURE MAN, the ante-post favourite for 95th running of the Jamaica St Leger, is positive ahead of the race on Saturday.

MINIATURE MAN has been drawn in gate three in the 10-furlong race which is the second leg of the Triple Crown.

He will be following up a victory in the 2000 Guineas on June 5, where he defeated CALCULUS by a length and a quarter over eight furlongs while FURTHER AND BEYOND finished third in the event. However, he will have SHE'S A WONDER, the winner of the 1000 Guineas, who is drawn in gate seven, for company.

DaCosta says MINIATURE MAN has been improving with each race and he will relish 10 furlongs on Saturday.

"MINIATURE MAN is training well and we are just preparing him to the best of our ability and just hoping for a good race," he said. "We are hoping for a clean trip and see what happens on race day. He is definitely improving now and he looks like he will stay the distance.

"Everything has gone well so far and so we just hope that it stays that way up to race day. It is a very competitive race -- FURTHER AND BEYOND, SHE'S WONDER, BERN NOTICE and CALCULUS -- those are all good horses, so it will be an exciting race."

FURTHER AND BEYOND, with Dane Nelson aboard, will run from gate eight, PRINCE MARSHALL is drawn in gate one, SANTORINI will run from gate two, SIMBA THE LION from gate four, AMY THE BUTCHER from gate five, BERN NOTICE from gate six, T BRADY from gate nine, CALCULUS from gate 10, SECRET IDENTITY from gate 11, and NUCLEAR NOON from gate 12.

MINIATURE MAN will be ridden by Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas.
