BEST

Portmore United

After a disappointing defensive performance against Vere United last week, Portmore United managed to bounce back with a 1-0 over Molynes United. While Molynes had their chances in the second half that again tested the defending champions' backline, it was Portmore United that prevailed with the last kick of the game, courtesy of a Damano Solomon tap in. Portmore lead the table early after three games with six points and will face a Tivoli Gardens team this weekend that returns from their bye week after getting their first win of the season against Arnett Gardens.

Oquassa Chong

Harbour View's young striker Oquassa Chong is proving to be difficult to stop. Against Mount Pleasant on Saturday, he scored his third goal in his third consecutive game, as well as provided an assist as Harbour View stormed to a 2-0 win, their first of the season after back-to-back draws to start the campaign. Not only did it stretch their unbeaten run against Mount Pleasant to four games, but they are also now one point behind early leaders Portmore United.

Dunbeholden

After the sudden departure of Curtis Hamilton as head coach because of personal matters, new Dunbeholden head coach Harold Thomas was left with the task of righting the ship after two back-to-back defeats to start the season. His first game in charge saw his team get in the win column with a 1-0 victory over Cavalier. It was a well-needed three points to finally get their campaign off the mark. They will have their hands full, however, when they face Harbour View on Saturday and in-form striker Oquassa Chong.

Arnett Gardens

Against Humble Lion on Monday, an opponent that has had the better head-to-head record in their last five meetings, Arnett Gardens managed to come from behind to beat them 2-1 to register their first win of the season in their second game of the campaign. It was a good way to recover from their opening loss against their west Kingston rivals Tivoli Gardens in their opening game last week.

WORST

Cavalier

In their match against Dunbeholden, both teams finished with eight shots, three of those on target, but it was Dunbeholden's earlier goal that doomed Cavalier to their first defeat of the season. They will be disappointed with the lack of quality chances created. Against Arnett Gardens on Saturday, they will need to be better in that department.

Humble Lion

Three games, three defeats to start the season for Humble Lion. Without points to their name so far, head coach Andrew Price has questioned the efforts of his players and has demanded more from them. Humble Lion are one of the two teams left in the league without a win, which has to be corrected quickly with the margin for error decreasing.

Molynes United

Head coach of Molynes United Calvert Fitzgerald will be crushed that they were not able to at least hold on for a point against defending champions Portmore United. Damano Solomon got the winner with the last kick of the game to extend Molynes United's winless streak against Portmore to three. The bye week didn't produce the result that Molynes United wanted but they will get another opportunity against Mount Pleasant to finally get on the scoresheet.

Mount Pleasant

Yes, Mount Pleasant lost their first game of the season to Harbour View, a team that has given them many problems previously. But they weren't a team that was in any immediate danger and they were coming off a win against Humble Lion last week. Which is why the sacking of coach Paul Davis and his technical team comes as a surprise. Technical director Walter Downes will take charge of the team and his first test will be against Molynes United on Sunday.
