Jamaica's Sunshine Girls were beaten 55-45 by England's Vitality Roses in the opening match of their three-Test series at the Copper Box Arena in Hackney, London, yesterday.

The Sunshine Girls led 26-25 at half-time but were blown away 30-19 by the hosts in the second half.

Jamaica took an 11-10 lead after the first quarter and tied the second quarter 15-15 for their slim half-time advantage.

England came alive in what turned out to be a decisive third quarter winning it 16-9 to take a 41-35 lead ahead of the fourth quarter. They won the final quarter 14-10 to complete an impressive victory.

Jamaica's Jhaniele Fowler led all scorers with 40 goals from 41 attempts. England's Jo Harten had 30 goals from 39 attempts, while Eleanor Cardwell scored 20 from 22. Cardwell was named player of the match.

The second and third Tests will be held at the Motorsport Arena, Nottingham on December 4 and 5.
