Western Bureau:

Four teams will be hunting just two available second-round spots up for grabs in Zone E of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition as Clarendon College battle Glenmuir High at Foga Road at 3 p.m. today in a top-of-the-table contest for round of 16 qualification.

The two teams currently occupy the qualification spots on the table with Clarendon (13 points) having a point advantage over Glenmuir. However, one could be in danger of missing out as Lennon (11 points) and Edwin Allen (10 points) face off in the other match at Glenmuir, also at 3 p.m.

Glenmuir are looking to do the double over the defending champions after they grabbed a 1-0 win two weeks ago that revived their campaign after back-to-back defeats.

Coach of Glenmuir, Andrew Peart, says he is impressed by the character his players showed in giving themselves a chance to make it to the round of 16 after their misfortune two weeks ago. He admits today's game won't be easy as Clarendon will want to get back at them for handing them their only defeat of the season so far.

"It's a different game so you cannot tell what sort of approach they will have. It is another game for us to show that our young team can compete with the best teams in the competition. We believe in our abilities and preparation, so it's just for us to go out and execute," Peart said.

"It's going to be a tough game but we have put ourselves in contention to go through to the next round. I think the team has really rebounded from the two defeats we would have suffered. It's good to see the character to know that you can be down but not out. We have to do it again because this one is a final" he added.

Similar to their counterparts, Clarendon are coming into the game in good form off the back of two wins where they scored a total of 21 goals. They will be seeing the recent defeat to Glenmuir as just a bump in the road and would want to remedy and march on to continue their title defence.
