National striker Jody Brown headlines a 28-player roster that has been assembled for the second combined Women's Under-17 and Under-20 camp which started at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence in St Andrew yesterday.

The camp runs for four days and is mostly comprised of local-based players.

Brown, who plays for Florida State University (FSU) in the United States, is among three overseas-based players, including Ashlee Lewis of the Toronto Blizzard High-Performance Academy, and Nevillegail Able of Navarro College in Texas, who have been named to the training squad.

Brown is coming off her sophomore collegiate season where she scored four goals and registered 10 assists, en route to helping FSU win the National Championship, beating Brigham Young University 4-3 on penalties in the Women's College Cup final on December 6. Brown helped FSU get to the College Cup final in her rookie season in 2020-21 but lost to Santa Clara University in May.

The camp comes as the young Reggae Girlz are scheduled to compete in next year's Concacaf Women's Under-20 Championship to be held in the Dominican Republic.

Jamaica have been drawn in Group H where they will face Haiti, Guatemala, and Cuba in the group stage.

The top three teams will qualify for the rescheduled FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup which will take place next August in Costa Rica. The 2020 edition was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to evaluating the performance levels of the group, the camp will be used to develop team chemistry, friendship and trust among the players.

Twenty-five local players have been included in the camp, which finishes on Thursday.
