Big Jule should easily dominate rivals

BIG JULE's performance last time out, 1:37.4, the fastest mile run all year, lowering KING ARTHUR and ONEOFAKIND's joint mark of 1:38.0, was no kid's play after carrying splits of 47.2, 59.4, 1:11.4 and 1:24.0.

Back from a two-month break, looking pretty much the monster he has been in his last two races, a combined winning margin of 15 lengths, Ian Parsard's in-utero colt appears to have finally settled down and champing at his bit to renew rivalry with the trio - CALCULUS, BILLY WHIZZ and FURTHER AND BEYOND - who had sentenced him to fourth in last year's Jamaica Derby.

However, before ascending to the lofty heights of his proven peers from last season, BIG JULE must first go through the grind of overnight allowance and at least two open allowance races, depending on the pickings available, before crossing swords with the top guns.

Meanwhile, races such as Saturday's Facilities Department Trophy, an overnight allowance at nine and a half furlongs, are available for the taking, which Parsard has welcomed with open arms, a seven-horse field which BIG JULE should easily dominate.

In receipt of seven pounds from CURLIN'S AFFAIR and 10lbs. lighter than CRIMSON, runners separated by three-quarter length at seven furlongs last time out, beaten into second and third, respectively, by LEGALITY stepping up from a $750,000 claiming tag, BIG JULE not only has the trip in his favour, but the scale hilariously tilted in his favour.

BIG JULE can again afford to toy with his meal before eating, similar to how he had brushed aside the trio of SANTORINI, BERN NOTICE and UNRULY BOSS when clocking 1:37.4 for a near six-length romp with Omar Walker.

MONEY MONSTER's form has gone AWOL again, leaving CURLIN'S AFFAIR and unpredictable EXCESSIVE FORCE as the only two horses with any real pace in the event. Considering LEGALITY ran CURLIN'S AFFAIR and CRIMSON off their legs at seven furlongs, both allowing BIG JULE weight going around the lawn does not augur well for either.

Philip Feanny must be frustrated with quirky EXCESSIVE FORCE and his antics, four wins in 19 starts for a once-seemingly promising United States-bred five-year-old. The many-time champion trainer removing the visor in which he ran one of his better races, third last time out behind ONEOFAKIND and BILLY WHIZZ's 1:38.0, tells the tale of how problematic he has proven to be.
