Cavalier ended their run in the Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship yesterday after drawing 3-3 with Cibao at the Estadio Cibao in the Dominican Republic.

Needing a win to give themselves a chance to advance, Cavalier were pegged back after building a two-goal lead twice. Cavalier took the lead in the 20th minute, thanks to Dwayne Atkinson, and doubled their advantage in the 37th minute when a curling shot was deflected by Cibao's Oscar Florencio into his own net. Juan David Diaz started the comeback, reducing the deficit to one in the 52nd before Atkinson restored Cavalier's two-goal advantage in the 63rd minute.

However, Cavalier's collapse began in the 67th minute when Jeovanni Laing was sent off after a second caution. A minute later Dairin Gonzalez pulled his team within one with a well timed finish. With 10 men Cavalier could not hold on to their lead and Erick Paniagua found the equaliser in the 74th minute to secure the point and book his team's place in the semi-final. Cavalier finished bottom of Group A with only one point.

With qualification into the semi-finals secured, Jamaica's Waterhouse cemented top spot in Group B after they played to a 0-0 draw with Atletico Vega Real in their final group game.

While both teams were unable to break the deadlock during the 90 minutes, they each had their opportunities to force the issue if the finishing was better. Vega Real who play in the Dominican first division had put Waterhouse under pressure with gilt edge chances in the first half. A Joseph Gomez cross found the head of Mauro Gomez but his header flashed over the bar.

However, Waterhouse grew into the game and threatened with opportunities of their own. Andre Moulton had a shot that needed a save from Vega Real goalkeeper Juan Dominguez and then Cardel Benbow saw his volley attempt go wide of the post.

It was Vega Real that continued the offensive thrust on Waterhouse's goal but they were not able to give goalkeeper Akeem Chambers much to do. The closest Vega Real came to scoring was when a low cross found the head of substitute Domingo Peralta but he could not direct his header on goal. The result left both teams on four points but Waterhouse won the group with a better goal difference.
