BEST

CHAPELTON MAROONS

After four tries Chapelton Maroons made history on Monday with their first Jamaica Premier League (JPL) win. It was even more impressive that the victory was against traditional title contenders Waterhouse, edging them 1-0. Rohane Brown's 20th-minute strike was their first goal in top-flight football, completing a day of first, which included their first clean sheet. With their duck broken, at last, they hope that it sends a message to the league that they will not be push-overs this season.

MONTEGO BAY UNITED

While early in the season, Montego Bay United are showing that they will be far from easy pickings. They produced the signature win of the campaign so far with a 2-1 victory over Arnett Gardens, thanks to a Nevaun Turner 94th-minute blast to preserve their unbeaten run. With their third win of the season, they have surpassed last season's win total with a statement that they are no longer the JPL's doormats.

MOLYNES UNITED

Already Molynes United have made improvements this season. In the previous campaign, they could not find a win in their first four games. This year they have had a better start under head coach Alex Thomas, gaining six points from their first four, which included a 1-0 win over Vere United last weekend. The unexpected break, for the Reggae Girlz' two-match series against Paraguay, did them some good as they are now in fifth place with six points.

HARBOUR VIEW

The defending champions now occupy the top spot in the table after grinding out a 1-0 win over Humble Lion last Sunday, thanks once again to Nicholas Hamilton, who simply cannot stop scoring. While level on points with Montego Bay with a better goal difference, the Stars of the East are the early pacesetters.

WORST

DUNBEHOLDEN

Last year's beaten finalists Dunbeholden are realising the difficulties of replicating last season's success. Despite taking the lead early, the St Catherine-based outfit could not maintain the intensity, losing 2-1 to Cavalier for their second defeat of the season. After four games they have only picked up four points something that will concern head coach Harold Thomas

WATERHOUSE

Waterhouse have lost three straight games for the first time since the 2016/2017 season. Their latest defeat was at the hands of newly promoted Chapelton Maroons in a 1-0 affair where they conceded cheaply and had difficulty in the offensive third. Head coach Marcel Gayle said that it is not a time to panic, but that the defensive lapses plaguing his team must be corrected immediately.

ARNETT GARDENS

Arnett Gardens were just seconds away from earning a point at Montego Bay United, but didn't give account for Turner, whose last-second blast rocketted past the goalkeeper for their first defeat of the season. It will be a hard pill to swallow for coach Paul Davis, but something that will be a call to arms in ensuring that they do not surrender points so late.

VERE UNITED

Vere United are still searching for their first win of the season. It has been a struggle under head coach Linval Dixon so far, after valiantly playing to an opening day draw against Tivoli Gardens. They only have two points to show for their efforts so far and suffered their second defeat to Molynes United. In a year where relegation has returned, Vere United need to put points on the board quickly to give them momentum and belief.
