The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) will offer two scholarships to promising high school footballers to pursue their tertiary academic goals.

According to JFF President Michael Ricketts, each gender will receive a scholarship which will help in softening the image of the governing body, which will be establishing the criteria for the intended applicants.

"The social component is very important. We are looking at providing scholarships for at least two players, who would have had the academic and footballing requirements. It is something that we have given some thought," Ricketts said, noting that an announcement will be made soon.

Meanwhile, General Secretary Dennis Chung, said the JFF will also be starting a competition among Jamaicans to get the slogans for the Reggae Girlz's campaign in the Women's World Cup in New Zealand and Australia this summer, as well as for the Reggae Boyz journey to the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

According to Chung, it was a request by Ricketts after the Reggae Girlz qualified for their second consecutive Women's World Cup and the Reggae Boyz set to embark on the 2026 World Cup journey.

"The president has asked us to work on launching a competition very soon to find a slogan and we want to involve the public in that. There are going to be some prizes for persons who come up with the best slogans for us," Chung said.

In July, the Reggae Girlz qualified for back-to-back Women's World Cup after placing third in the Concacaf Women's Championships in Mexico. They made their first showing at the quadrennial tournament four years ago in France.

The JFF has revamped the Reggae Boyz programme, bringing in coach Heimir Hallgrimsson, who will chart the course they will take that will lead to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
