Dunbeholden warn with 4-2 win over Arnett

Dunbeholden coach Harold Thomas is warning others to expect more from them, after a resounding 4-2 Jamaica Premier League (JPL) win over Arnett Gardens at Stadium East yesterday.

Former Waterhouse wing back Ricardo Thomas signalled his arrival at Dunbeholden - last year's beaten finalists - with a brace. Chevoy Watkins and Skakeem Powell added second-half goals to put the game out of Arnett's reach.

Earl Simpson and Fabian Reid netted for Arnett.

"We have been working for a short period," commented Thomas who returned from overseas after a long time away due to personal reasons.

"We are happy with the result but there is a lot more to come from this team as we move forward.

"I am definitely pleased with that (four goals), but it is not just the goals but how we scored. We also have two 17-year-olds in this team and the more comfortable they get they are going to be a terror," he added.

Dunbeholden took the lead in the action-packed encounter when Kimani Arbouine handled the ball in the area and Thomas converted from the spot.

Simpson levelled the score in the 34th minute, heading home Ajuma Johnson's corner, but 10 minutes into the second half Watkins netted a header to restore Dunbeholden's lead.

Thomas made it 3-1 for Dunbeholden with a superb strike.

Reid reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 63rd minute from a penalty after he was fouled inside the penalty box. Still, Dunbeholden restored their two-goal advantage when Ezran Simpson lost possession and Powell converted.

Arnett coach Paul 'Tegat' Davis believes it was a tough game and they were not focused.

"When you win a game against Mount Pleasant, do not feel like you win the league. We were still in party mood," he said, in reference to their 3-2 victory over the previously unbeaten Mount Pleasant last week.

"We gave up some silly goals, made some silly passes and it was a training session for Dunbeholden. We looked stupid tonight.

"It is a serious league. Teams are improving, players are playing good and the coaches are working good so you cannot take anything for granted," Davis said.

Arnett remain third on 17 points, while Dunbeholden climb to 15 points, the same as fourth-place Harbour View and fifth-place Portmore United.
