Marshall, Harbour View in talks

Harbour View General Manager, Clyde Jureidini, confirmed that Cavalier attacker Alex Marshall has been training with them although a deal has not yet been struck with the 24-year-old.

The former St George's star, who spent six years with Cavalier before moving to HFX Wanderers in the Canadian Premier League (CPL) in 2020, reportedly declined an offer for a contract extension from the club when the 2022 season ended in October.

In the two and a half seasons with the HFX Wanderers, Marshall played 55 games, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

In the first half season in 2020, he played 11 games and contributed two assists from four starts.

The following season he received improved game time and was featured 22 times, starting 14 games, scoring twice, and giving one assist.

Last season, he started in eight of the 18 games he played but failed to score or provide an assist in his 709 minutes of game time.

Marshall has been training on and off with defending Jamaica Premier League (JPL) champions Harbour View, and Jureidini says that both parties have an inkling to striking a deal.

"He has trained on a few occasions in the last couple of weeks. There's clearly interest from him and from the coaches, but nothing has been signed as yet. We would have interest in signing him, and anything can go because the transfer window is open," he commented.

Jureidini believes that Marshall could still be looking at other opportunities although he is having ongoing discussions with Harbour View.

"He may be exploring his options. He could be talking to other people here and overseas, I do not know, but there is interest from our side, and I know that there has been interest from him.

"There are discussions taking place, and the discussions will continue with himself and the technical team, but we haven't got into any deal as far as I know and I cannot say until there is a deal in place and a signed document," Jureidini said.
