Tivoli Gardens coach Jermaine 'Teddy' Johnson is hoping they can build on their 1-0 Jamaica Premier League (JPL) win over Waterhouse at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.

Keno Simpson netted the only goal of the game in the 80th minute and although Johnson thought Waterhouse made life difficult for them, he was pleased with the application and performance of his players.

"This was a difficult win for us but I am pleased with the players, the way they played and the work. We got a clean sheet and the goal, which was most important, so we just need to go back to the drawing board.

"We have to build on it. We have to go back in training and do the same things or even more and try to come right again next week," Johnson said.

In a combative first half, Tivoli did most of the early running and had two great chances through Anthony Nelson and Jah-Neil Wray.

Waterhouse assumed the ascendancy in the latter stages of the first half and Shaqueil Bradford just failed to connect with a good cross at the back post on a counter, while Devroy Grey had a header cleared off the line from a corner.

Waterhouse controlled the start of the second half and Ramone Howell skied a great opportunity after a cheeky dummy from Kenroy Howell.

The game was deserving of a goal and in the 80th minute, Simpson provided a moment of quality when he weaved his way into the area and fired under goalkeeper Kemar Foster for the game's only goal.

Tivoli climbed one place to 11th with the win to 10 points, while Waterhouse remain ninth on 13.

Waterhouse coach Marcel Gayle is confident his team will bounce back.

"Defensively, we lost concentration in that part of the game and conceded a soft goal, but lesson learnt. We will take heart from the game and prepare for the next one," he said.

In the day's other game Mount Pleasant and Vere drew 0-0 at the same venue.
