KEVIN HIBBERT

Waterhouse faced a goalkeeping problem ahead of their match against Chapelton Maroons, with first-choice shot-stopper Kemar Foster away on international duty and their reserve goalkeeper off the island. So the opportunity presented itself to 15-year-old Kevin Hibbert to get his first-ever JPL start. It may not have been a clean sheet, but his teammates gave him the offensive support and enough defensive solidity to win the game 3-2 and to get Waterhouse in the playoff places for the first time in 2023.

MOLYNES UNITED

After a three-game winless run, Molynes United took out their frustrations on Vere United, thanks to a 4-0 drubbing. A Jason Wright brace did the job for them in the first half as Molynes are closer towards guaranteeing their status for next season.

HARBOUR VIEW

Three straight wins in a row have Harbour View back on track. A 1-0 victory over Humble Lion not only pushed them into fourth place but was also their fourth clean sheet in five games. The offensive problems seem to have improved, but it is good that the defence has helped out as well.

WORST

DONOVAN DUCKIE

Ambition is not a crime, but for Donovan Duckie, his pursuit of victory by any means necessary didn't mesh with the change in direction, of Montego Bay United wanting to emphasise youth. For that reason, he became the latest coaching casualty this season, parting by mutual consent. It was a decision that Duckie himself recommended, putting the needs of the club above himself.

VERE UNITED

If it wasn't for the points deduction Chapelton Maroons received, Vere United would have reasons to be very nervous. Their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Molynes United is not only their fourth straight loss, but they have only scored five goals this season. Offensively they have been anaemic, and the four goals against Molynes were the most they have conceded this season. They are still above the danger line with 14 points, but Faukland have cut the gap between 12th and 13th place to five points.

DUNBEHOLDEN

The inconsistency that Dunbeholden have shown recently is starting to affect their playoff aspirations. They could not keep up against Cavalier, and a 3-1 defeat combined with Waterhouse's 3-2 win over Chapelton saw them drop out of the playoff places for the first time this year. They will face their parish rivals Portmore United this weekend in a game that has to be a must-win for their chances, especially since Portmore will have a game in hand.
