Hamilton secures deal with FF Jaro in Finland
Nicholas Hamilton's desire to be seen on the international market again has been fulfilled, as he has secured a deal with FF Jaro in Finland after a successful trial.
The second-division Finish club recently announced Hamilton's one-year deal.
The move ends Hamilton's time with Harbour View, being a pivotal part in their run to the Jamaica Premier League title last season, as well as their current title defence, having scored six goals this season. He signed with Harbour View last year.
Hamilton was in Finland for a two-week trial with IFK Mariehaman, and Harbour View general manager Clyde Jureidini had said Hamilton wanted another opportunity on the international stage, which he was confident that the player would grab.
"It's good for him to have a trial in Europe at this time. He had expressed openly last season and throughout this season that he wanted to be seen on the international club level again. So this is an opportunity for him to impress, and we hope the two-week trial works out to his benefit, and by extension the club and by extension Jamaica's football in that regard," Jureidini said then.
Hamilton has had previous stints overseas since moving from Cavalier in 2020, with spells in Canada with York United in the Canadian Premier League and a loan move to Dundee FC in Scotland, before returning to Jamaica last year and signing with Harbour View.
The earliest opportunity for Hamilton to debut would be today when Jaro face SJK Akatemia at 10:30 a.m. (Jamaica time) in their season opener. Jaro finished third in the regular season last year and third in the championship playoffs.
