Double sprint Olympic Games champion Elaine Thompson Herah begins attacking her World Championships' sprint double slate with her 200 metres season debut at the Tom Jones Invitation Meet, which starts today in Gainsville, Florida, in the United States of America (USA).

Thompson Herah highlights the Jamaican contingent participating in the two-day meet, and it will be her first meet since March 18, when she finished fifth in the 400 metres at the John Wolmer meet in Kingston.

Her 200 metres season opener will also be her fourth meet of the season, having also done two 60 metres races earlier this year - one outdoor and one indoor. She will be competing against compatriot Junelle Bromfield, who is on the entry list for the 200 metres as well as the 400 metres, which will mark her season debut.

Jamaicans Sachin Dennis, Nigel Ellis and Julian Forte will face Olympic 200 metres champion Andre DeGrasse and World Championships 200 metres winner Noah Lyles in the 100 metres, with Ellis and Lyles doubling to compete in the 200 metres as well.

Natoya Goule will open her season in the 400 metres and faces Jamaican Stacy Ann Williams and former Olympic Games and World Championships 400 metres hurdles champion Dalilah Muhammad of the USA.

Jamaica's Under-20 World Championships 100 metres hurdles champion Kerrica Hill will compete in her first senior event in the discipline, facing compatriot and former World Championships winner Danielle Williams, the current champion and world record holder Tobi Amusan and another former winner, Nia Ali.

Hill has only competed in two races this season, which were at the Gibson Relays in February.

Meanwhile, Commonwealth Games 110 metres hurdles champion Rasheed Broadbell of Jamaica will open his campaign at the meet and faces reigning World Championships winner Grant Holloway for the first time this season. Broadbell scored victories against Holloway last season.

In the field, 2019 World Championship shot put silver medallist Danniel Thomas-Dodd will be competing in what will be her second outdoor event of the season, while Shauntae Foreman will compete in the long jump, her second meet of the season, after finishing 11th in her season opener on April 1.
