Having not gotten past the quarter-final round of the competition in editions past, Jamaica will hope that they can take the first step towards a deep run in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games when they open their campaign against Honduras today at 3 p.m. (Jamaica time) at the Estadio Las Delicias in El Salvador.

Jamaica's 20-man squad has a mix of local-based players as well as some overseas talent such as English-born winger Tyler Roberts who plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as Brandon Cover who was in the concluded international camp in Austria. The locally based contingent comprises Jamaica Premier League players such as Arnett Gardens' Marlon Allen, Cavalier SC's Ronaldo Webster and Shaniel Thomas, Mount Pleasant's Devonte Campbell as well as Harbour View's Christojaye Daley.

Waterhouse head coach Marcel Gayle is the man in charge of the team and he will be hoping to have better luck at the CAC Games than he did at the Concacaf Under-20 Men's Championship last year where they were eliminated at the quarter-final stage.

Jamaica's record against Honduras stands at 10 wins, five draws and 12 defeats, however, the Reggae Boyz have won the last four meetings against the Central American team, with their most recent victory coming last year in their final game of their failed 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign which was played at the National Stadium in March 2022.

Jamaica's last meeting against Honduras in the CAC Games was in the 2014 edition where they were beaten 3-2 in a campaign where they failed to advance to the semi-finals, losing all their three group games. Jamaica last made the quarterfinals of the CAC games in 2006 edition in Cartagena, Colombia, where they lost 6-0 to the hosts.

Jamaica will face Costa Rica on Friday before concluding group play against Guatemala on Sunday. The top two teams qualify for the knockout rounds.
