Queens Park A cop Intermediate title

Queens Park A beat Police Officers Club A 36-20 to take the Netball Jamaica Sunshine Cereals Championships at the Leila Robinson Courts on Saturday.

Queens Park's vice-captain Shatasha Paline said they are grateful for the victory.

"It was possible because of my team. We knew that Police A were coming hard at us, so we just kept our composure and delivered," Paline said.

Queens Park dedicated their win to former player Philianie Paul who died of cancer last year.

"Philianie was a player we lost last year, so we dedicated this win to her. She was one of our main players and pushed other players to play netball, so we are really grateful," Paline said.

Police A led at the end of the first quarter with five goals, while Queens Park were at four goals.

At the end of the first half, Queens Park were in the lead 14-9.

Queens Park extended their lead 24-16 by the end of the third quarter.

Police A's assistant coach Alex Broomfield said this was not the end they expected, but look forward to next year.

"The ladies came out with their full force. We intended to win this league, but unfortunately some of our players are nursing injuries," Broomfield said. "Congratulations to Queens Park, they did an excellent job to become victors, but nonetheless, I think our ladies gave a good account of themselves. We will work on some of our shortcomings for the next season."

The third-place play-off was won by SPEH A, who defeated JCF A 36-22.
