KSACA too good for Portmore in U-15 cricket

The Kingston and St Andrew Cricket Association (KSACA) chalked up their first win of the 2023 Kingston Wharves Under-15 cricket competition following a nine-wicket win over Portmore in their Zone C second-round encounter at the Bridgeport field on Monday.

Portmore took first strike and could only manage to score 69 as Mickel Frankson bagged four wickets for just nine runs. He was ably supported by captain Tishaun Johnson who picked up three wickets for 12 runs while Nathan Lalor took three wickets for eight runs.

It was Johnson who led the way with the bat for KSACA as his unbeaten 40 guided his team to 73 for one in 19.4 overs to seal the win. Frankson chipped in with 13 before he retired hurt.

After picking up a draw in their opening encounter against Melbourne, KSACA coach Carl Stephens is eyeing a spot in the quarter-finals with matches against Boys' Town and St Catherine CC to come.

"We are feeling good about this win and looking to secure maximum points from the remaining games. I must tip my hat to our captain Johnson who showed real class and this is a positive step for our team moving forward."

In the meantime, defending champions St Mary secured back-to-back wins after getting the better of Manchester by three wickets following their opening match win against St Ann.

Manchester managed to get to 102 all out in 22.2 overs with Demarley Francis top scoring with 26 and Kevoy Williams getting 22 against three wickets each for Devante Miller and Robama Smith.

Jeovanni Richardson then hit 28 to lead St Mary to 104 for seven in 22 overs as Smith contributed 17 despite four wickets for 11 runs from Damario Hall.

Elsewhere, St. Ann bounced back to winning ways as they got the better of St Catherine Cricket Association by eight wickets.

St. Catherine CA were blown away for just 55 in 25 overs with Jadeek Walker grabbing five wickets for 12 runs. Deshaun Gayle then hit 25 and Brandon Mowatt 15 to guide St Ann to 57 for two in 17 overs.
