Former St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) goalkeeper Jeadine White has gone through the rigours of a successful Manning Cup season, and the national standout representative is relaying the knowledge gained at the highest level to the young footballers at his alma mater.

The goalkeeper coach lurks in the shadows while helping STATHS' defensive line in their 11 games, as they only conceded two goals after another shut-out last Saturday when they comfortably handled Kingston Technical High School 4-0 in the first leg of their second-round tie. They thumped KTHS 7-0 on Wednesday for an 11-0 aggregate.

"Normally, when you think about old boys, it's always about the financial aspect, but not necessarily to educate or to share moments with the youngsters. I've been through it, knows what it's like, and knows what can happen," he stated.

White added that he knew immediately that he was making the right decision when his former schoolboy football coach, Phillip Williams, contacted him and requested that he join the coaching staff.

"It was important for me when my coach offered for me to come around the boys and impart my knowledge on them and share what I know. In the moment, I knew I made the right decision to come on board," he added.

The 28-year-old White, who currently plies his trade in the Jamaica Premier League for the Rudolph Speid-coached Cavalier SC, shared that his method since joining the coaching staff is to guide the boys to train hard and apply themselves, which in return should make life much easier during a game. He believes this is bearing fruit.

"We've used all three of our goalkeepers this season, but I think what is working is that they're all applying themselves. There are days when we might slack off, but we often apply ourselves as much as possible. We train hard and play games easily," he explained.

White, also on a learning path, added that he has to coach each goalkeeper differently.

"I know how to talk to all three of my goalkeepers. For Jaheem (Williams), who is our first choice, I don't have to say much because his personality is different. He believes in himself even when nothing is working, and his personality will stand out," White shared.
