Dr Shericka Jackson, CD, that's now the correct way to refer to Jamaica's two-time World Athletics Championships 200 metres winner.

Adding to her already established accolades, Jackson was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Technology (UTech) on Saturday during the graduation ceremony.

She said this was a special moment in her life.

"It was truly a special and awesome day. I am grateful and happy to be conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from UTech. The rewards for working diligently, persevering, being resilient, determined and focused can come from unexpected sources," the fastest woman alive over 200 metres said in an Instagram post.

She boosts others to continue to play their part in advancing the welfare of Jamaica despite the challenges.

"Be encouraged. If your faith is strong, there is always hope for you. There are many ways for each of us to contribute towards building a better nation and encourage everyone to pursue their dreams no matter the circumstances," Jackson, who won her first individual World Championship title last year, said.

In her special moment, Jackson remained thankful.

"It's indeed a big moment. I sincerely thank those in the nominating process for making this moment possible. To my amazing family, friends, sponsors and supporters, thank you for the unconditional love and support. I appreciate it very much," she said.

The 29-year-old was also conferred with the Order of Distinction, Commander Class, by the Government of Jamaica for exceptional achievement in track and field athletics at the national, World Championships and Olympic levels.

The national honour was bestowed on her last year after claiming gold in the 200 metres in Eugene, Oregon.

Jackson said she would like to add world record holder to her title, being the second fastest woman over the 200 metres in history.
