Daniel Hardy's late second-half strike carried Molynes United to a 1-0 win over Harbour View in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) on Sunday at Ashenheim Stadium. It deepened Harbour View's woes this season.

The Stars of the East, as Harbour View are known, slumped to their fourth straight defeat and fifth loss in six games.

The defeat left the Ludlow Bernard-coached Harbour View on 19 points, one place and seven points above the relegation zone.

Bernard emphasised their lack of goalscoring ability this season, but believes they can still turn things around before the end of the campaign.

"It will be difficult, but we are still working to get good results. Even before this game, we have been working to play good football and to create opportunities, and most of our sessions have been in front of goal.

"We do create, but we are not able to put away the chances that come to us, and that creates pressure in other areas," Bernard noted.

The creation of chances were few in the first half, as both teams were limited to just one good opportunity each, but neither could take advantage.

The game opened up a bit more after the break and Jason Wright squandered two glorious chances to put Molynes ahead.

However, 72 minutes into the contest, Jermy Nelson's intelligent pass released Hardy inside the area and he slammed a shot past goalkeeper Ramario Palma from a tight angle.

Harbour came back towards the end and had a shot that rattled the bar before goalkeeper Peter Harrison pulled off an excellent save in the last minute of play to deny them a share of the points.

"It was a game-winning save. We need the three points to keep moving up the table, so that was a crucial save. This is a critical three points," Harrison commented.

"The relegation battle is real, so every game from here is like a final to us. We have to keep winning and keep moving from the bottom."

The win helped Molynes move one place up the standings above Vere into ninth with 23 points.
