Jamaica's Reggae Boyz have risen two spots to 55th in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, and their former striker, Damani Ralph, is pleased about the progress within their setup.

"I think we're at a point now where we're able to attract other players who share the passion and love of Jamaica. They also want to see the football grow and see Jamaica consistently participating at the biggest tournaments," he explained.

Ralph pointed out that he believes this is the Reggae Boyz's best chance at making it back to the FIFA World Cup, based on the strength of the current squad. The former St George's College and Harbour View standout added that the upcoming Copa America tournament will also give head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson a good insight into the progress.

"This is the best chance the Reggae Boyz have to get into the World Cup, as we're also boasting one of our strongest rosters in recent times. I'm excited to see what happens this summer at the Copa America tournament, as it will allow the head coach to continue building on what he has," he added.

Known for his skill and pace, Ralph represented the Reggae Boyz on 18 occasions, while netting one goal.

According to Ralph, having missed out on the opportunity to represent the 'black, green and gold' at the youth level, he had a yearning to play for the senior Boyz.

"I knew that it was a privilege to have represented the senior national team, because I didn't have the opportunity to represent the country throughout the youth system. It was always a burning desire and a constant motivation to one day represent the country. So, for me, when I answered the call, it was a privilege," Ralph said.
