Shaw among nominees for top PFA Award
Despite her season ending prematurely due to an injury, Reggae Girlz captain Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw has been nominated for yet another football award in England.
Shaw, 27, is among six players shortlisted for the women's category for the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) Player of the Year Award.
The Manchester City star led the Women's Super League with 22 goals, eight more than her closest rival, despite her season ending prematurely in April due to a broken leg which required surgery.
Shaw became City's all-time leading goal scorer last season with 72 goals, surpassing Georgia Stanway's total of 67 goals. For this latest prestigious award, the 27-year-old will go up against Manchester City teammates Lauren Hemp and Yui Hasegawa and the Chelsea trio of Lauren James, Niamh Charles and Erin Cuthbert.
Shaw has already been awarded a number of accolades for her 2023/24 season performance as she bagged the Barclays Women's Super League Player of the Season and the Football Writers' Association Women's Footballer of the Year awards.
The shortlist for the men's award is headlined by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland who scored 27 goals last season to finish as the Premier League's top scorer. It also includes Rodri and Phil Foden (Manchester City), Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, Chelsea striker Cole Palmer and Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.
The award winners will be announced on August 20.
