GC Foster look to dominate inter-col football again
AFTER A BRIGHT start to the 2024 inter-collegiate football season, first-time head coach of G.C. Foster College football team, Raymond Bogle, has his sights set on the 2024 title.
The 2023 beaten finalists in the Division One League competition were off to a positive start in their opening match of the season after a last-minute goal gave them a 1-0 win over Portmore Community College.
After two knockout wins where they defeated Bethlehem Moravian College 3-0 and Exed Community College 1-0, G.C. Foster advanced to the quarter-final round of the competition. They will be at home tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., where they will play Caribbean Maritime University.
Bogle, the former assistant coach, who took charge this season from the previous head coach, Dwight Angus, is confident that G.C. Foster will dominate inter-collegiate football once again.
"It has been a while now since we have won a football title, and after our loss in the final last year to The University of West Indies, we are very confident that we will do extremely well this season and should get by our opponents on Tuesday and move on to the semi-finals of the knockout competition in our first step in what should be a fruitful season," said Bogle, who added that his team is mentally and physically prepared for the game.
The three other quarter-final matches scheduled for Tuesday will see see defending champions The University of West Indies playing away to Portmore Community College, University of Commonwealth Caribbean will host Montego Bay Community College, and the Caribbean Maritime University will go up against The Mico University College.
