Cohen nets double as Glenmuir defeat Clarendon College

Former Denbigh High School player Dunsting Cohen scored a brace yesterday to lead Glenmuir High to a 2-0 win over defending champions Clarendon College in their Group 7 second-round ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup football match at Glenmuir High School yesterday.
Cohen scored in injury time in both halves (47th and 92nd) as Glenmuir moved to second spot in the group behind leaders Paul Bogle High. Both schools have three points but Paul Bogle have the better goal difference, following their 3-0 victory over Titchfield High on Wednesday.
At Manchester High, Denbigh High and Belair High played to an exciting 1-1 draw in Group 5.
Both goals were scored in the first half. Lashawn Barnaby put Denbigh in front in the eighth minute when he sent a high ball over the Belair goalkeeper who had come too far outside of his 18-yard box.
Belair got back on even terms in the 29th minute when Orlando Gray netted a free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Both teams tried hard to take the lead in the second half but, despite coming close on several occasions, they failed to add to their score.
Denbigh and Belair are in second place in the group with a point each, behind leaders Happy Grove (three), after their 3-2 win over Holmwood Technical on Wednesday.
"I am very disappointed with the outcome, as we got a lot of opportunities to score but the guys were wasteful," Belair's coach Garth Burke said.
"However, we came out with a point and we will just have to try and get three points in our next game against Holmwood," Burke added.
Coach of Denbigh, Garfield Carney, stated that his team lacked enthusiasm.
"The guys were a bit flat today but I must commend them for their effort as getting a point away from home is a fair result. We are looking forward to our next game away to Happy Grove on Saturday, as we are hoping for a more positive result," he stated.
