Mount Pleasant Football Academy stretched their lead atop the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) to six points after a convincing 2-0 victory over second-place Arnett Gardens FC at Drax Hall yesterday.

Raheen Edwards put the league leaders ahead after just two minutes and Franco Celestin sealed the win with a 77th-minute goal.

Mount Pleasant climbed to 43 points, six more than Arnett and nine ahead of Montego Bay United FC in third.

At Stadium East, a Chevon Watkins own goal and an added-time goal from Steve Clarke gave Tivoli Gardens FC a 2-0 win over Dunbeholden FC. Tivoli are now four points off sixth place, as they moved to 26 points.

Waterhouse and Portmore have 30 points after both registered wins. Waterhouse had a 3-0 win over Vere Phoenix, while Portmore United notched a 4-0 win over Harbour View.

Tivoli's coach Jerome Waite said it was a tough encounter.

"It wasn't an easy game but in the end it looked easy based on the amount of chances we created. When you have so much errors in the final third, that is something that you have to constantly work on," he said.

Dunbeholden's coach Harold Thomas said his squad needs improvement to be competitive in the JPL.

"We were in it up to the 83rd minute, but one moment of madness and we gave it away. I take very little from this performance," he said.

"The team needs a number of things to be able to compete at this level. For some reason somebody thought these players could compete at the Premier League level. They were wrong. They were mistaken. If the will is there we can change it. If not, it's going to be a long rest of the season," he commented.

Dunbeholden are on 15 points, one outside the relegation zone.

At Wembley Centre of Excellence, Waterhouse turned back home team Vere Phoenix courtesy of a brace from Martin Davis (8th, 69th) and one goal from Andre Fletcher (45th+2), for their first win in five games.

Vere sit 10th in the table with 16 points.

At Ferdi Neita Park, Tedj Bryan ( 4th, 28th, 67th) netted a hat-trick and Stephen Young (81st) scored the other as Portmore continued Harbour View's misery.

Harbour View are now rock bottom of the table on 13 points.

Humble Loin, in the meantime, climbed from the foot of the standing after a 1-0 win over Chapelton Maroons, who ended the contest with 10 players.

Stephen Barnett scored the game's only goal after 54 minutes, after Chapelton's Demari Deacon was ejected after a second yellow card at the end of the first half.

Chapelton remain eighth on 17 points, while Humble Lion jumped one place to 13th on 14 points.
