KC, St Jago dominate sprint hurdles at SW Isaac Invitational

Defending boys' champions Kingston College (KC), after a slow start to the season, hit their stride at the ninth SW Isaac Invitational meet at the National Stadium on Saturday with dominant performances in the sprint hurdles.

KC swept all the sprint hurdles events in record times, with Daniel Clarke leading the charge in the Class One 110m hurdles, clocking an impressive 13.60 seconds. Teammate Rayvon Walkin followed in 13.96, while Shakira Lewis of Jamaica College (JC) finished third in 14.20.

Jonathan Clarke also impressed in the Class Two 110m hurdles, winning in 13.78. Wolmer's Mark Daniel Allen (14.21) and JC's Gregory Williams (14.29) secured second and third, respectively.

Raquen Dawkins added another win for KC in the Class Three 100m hurdles with a time of 13.51, finishing ahead of JC's Perry Gianni (13.72) and Jhaiden Dawkins of KC (13.90).

In the 400m hurdles, Jaedan Campbell of Excelsior High stole the show in Class One, winning in 54.95. JC secured a 1-2 finish in Class Two, with Nathaniel Williams (54.60) edging teammate Francisco Williams (54.61), while KC's Mickeel Williams finished third (54.84).

In the flat 400m, St Mary High's Rasheed Grant set a meet record of 48.71 to win in Class Two. In Class One, Jordan Fitzgerald of Papine High won in 48.04, beating Calabar High's Junior Gallimore and Nickecoy Bramwell, who both clocked 48.25.

JC's Joseph Salmon continued his dominance in the Class One discus, winning with a throw of 59.28m. St Catherine High's Rajay Hemmings (51.73m) was second.

In the Class One shot put, Calabar High's Kimari Kennedy set a meet record with 18.14m while JC's Michael Andre Edwards won the long jump with 7.19m.

ST JAGO GIRLS SHINE

St Jago's girls dominated the hurdles, with standout performances led by Shanice Williams in the Class Four 70m hurdles. She set a meet record of 10.66, finishing ahead of Wolmer's Girls' Odainna Creary (10.80) and teammate Ashley Allen (11.23).

Adora Campbell was equally impressive in the Class Two 100m hurdles, winning in a meet record 13.87. Teammate Nalayia Duncan was second (13.96), while Immaculate Conception's Kyra-Loye Kelly (14.23) finished third.

Excelsior High's Amoi Kentish claimed the Class One 100m hurdles title in 14.21, followed by St Jago's Bryanna Davidson (14.38) and Kentish's teammate Shelly-Ann Taylor (14.52).

Excelsior's Najhada Seymour threw 49.84m to win the Class One discus ahead of St Catherine High's Able Mills (46.34m) and Excelsior's Gianna Clayton (43.93m), respectively.

Mills later won the Class One shot put with a throw of 13.10m, with Excelsior's Kimeka Smith (12.96m) and Clayton (12.30m) taking second and third, respectively.
