Russell’s KKR lose again
MUMBAI, India:
Sunil Narine and Andre Russell failed to shine with the bat as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) slumped to their second loss in three games when they were trounced by eight wickets by the Mumbai Indians when the Indian Premier League (IPL) continued yesterday.
Narine was dismissed for a duck, while Russell made just five runs from 11 balls, as the Knight Riders were dismissed for a paltry 116 in 16.2 overs after being sent in to bat at the Wankhede Stadium.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi topscored with 26 and Ramandeep Singh made 22 in an otherwise disappointing batting performance by the visitors.
Left-arm pacer and Player-of-the-Match Ashwani Kumar ran through the Knight Riders' middle order to end with 4-24 from his three overs, while Deepak Chahar claimed 2-19.
The home side then made light work of their run chase with Ryan Rickelton smashing an unbeaten 62 from 41 balls and Suryakumar Yadav blasting an unbeaten 27 from nine balls to lead the Mumbai Indians to 121 for two in 12.5 overs.
Russell ended with 2-35 for the Knight Riders.
