Reputable football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Aston Villa has reached an agreement in principle with Serie A club AS Roma for the loan transfer of Jamaican international Leon Bailey.

Bailey's stepfather and agent, Craig Butler, confirmed to The STAR that the player was in negotiations with Roma a few days ago, with other clubs also reportedly interested.

The deal is said to be a season-long loan for a reported EU3 million, with a EU22 million buy option clause.

Bailey is reportedly set to travel to Italy today, with a medical scheduled for Tuesday.

He was left out of Aston Villa's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on the opening day of the Premier League season.
